Mordeth13 Seriously Injured in Motorbike Accident

Posted by on Nov 23, 2014 in Featured, Health

I lived in Taiwan for 2 years and used to watch Mordeth13’s videos on a regular basis. I stopped due to work commitments, life in general and because I just stopped using YouTube to watch people talk about their lives. But for the period that I did, it filled a void where I had nothing better to do; I could simply open up a video and find something interesting about someone’s life. Watching any of Mordeth13’s videos was purely for entertainment. He’d be riding around in his scooter or motorbike talking about his day as a foreigner living in Taiwan. I sort of felt like a foreigner, even though I’m half-Taiwanese, so I felt like in some of his stories there were connections of where I experienced similar encounters. One thing about Mordeth13 is that he is mysterious and...

Tough Mudder Review – Epicness

Posted by on Oct 26, 2014 in Health, Life

Tough Mudder: a 12 mile obstacle/assault course that I had just completed yesterday with a bunch of other people I went with. It was utterly brutal with obstacle after obstacle putting your mental thought to work as to whether you can continue or not. Or in some cases the obstacles would rejuvenate and spur a lot more energy in you to carry on. For example, who would have thought that freezing cold water would have kept your mind off the fact that your body is psychically incapable of continuing? It is mind over matter that plays into a lot of it. What with steep hills, one after the other, relentlessly breaking any energy you have left, you just have to keep going no matter what. Crap… cramp!! Cramp is the worst. I had to stop multiple times and do stretches in...

Wandering Around London

Posted by on Sep 13, 2014 in Health

Living in London can be amazing at times – especially if you live in Zone 1, where you can conveniently walk to locations that are full of joy and happiness. Today I went on a little wander around the city after having gone to the gym for around an hour and a half. Before that actually I ran for around 1.9 miles. I didn’t complete the 2 miles because that’s exactly how far I live from my gym. I’m training for Tough Mudder (12 miles; October 25th) and Survival of the Fittest (6.2 miles; November 22nd), which is why I’ve been picking up from where I stopped running and mainly focused on lifting weights. I’ve also started using the Nike+ Running App to benchmark my progress. Here’s where I’m at so far: I burnt 255cal I ran 1k in 5:34 I slowed...

1st day in the new house

Posted by on Jun 22, 2014 in Blog, Health

I have to say that I’m delighted at the fact that I’ve moved to Farringdon. I walked around the area for 3 hours yesterday, which in total led to around 8 miles of walking. Luckily my new running shoes are really, really comfortable. I’m even wearing them to work now and even during work hours as well — instead of my smart shoes. Not that that would be an issue. One of the nicest things that I’ve discovered is that I don’t actually need a drying rack anymore. The fucking washing machine is a tumble dryer as well as a washing machine. However, I’m too afraid to use the bloody thing in case my clothes shrink. I’m a poor sod at the moment having spent quite a bit of money moving into this place and I don’t want to...

Work Is Tiring Me Out

Posted by on Apr 2, 2014 in Health

I seem to be constantly thinking about work and it’s getting quite hectic at work as we’ve won new business. I’m likely not allowed to talk any further than this about work, but I’m certainly feeling the heat. I was reading this BBC article before about stress and it has a useful stress testing tool on there. One of the first questions I answered was, “How often do you find yourself being irritable with friends and family?!” and I realised that quite often I’m irritated by what my sister does or when speaking to my parents. It’s certainly something I need to work on. I’m thinking of taking next week off and perhaps booking a short holiday somewhere just by myself to somewhere nice. Anyways, here’s how I scored on that stress tester: Right now, I just have this really...

Dentists are insanely expensive in the UK

Posted by on Feb 20, 2014 in Health

£53… My dentist appointment today cost me £53! That’s crazy. It was for 3 x-rays that cost me £24 (£8 per x-ray) and a general upfront cost of £30. It’s no wonder why us Brits have a bad reputation when it comes to our teeth. I also tried seeing if whether my company provided dental insurance and unfortunately they do not, which sucks as that would have helped. Fortunately, that also covers an additional consultation which I have on Monday night @ 7pm. I’m also hoping the money I paid today covers at least one good dental clean. I shuddered at the thought of asking in case there was an additional fee that I would have to eventually pay. This is quite a shock to the system as this would have been free had I stated that I was...

Weight timeline from 16th of December to now

Posted by on Jan 5, 2014 in Health

This post was meant to be all about my fitness and health; however, I’ve had to shift this towards a more distracting matter. It’s to do with living in a house share. I have mentioned this issue in specifics in an article entitled “5 Reasons Why I Hate House Sharing” and this is mainly to do with the internet being so fucking slow. It’s driving me crazy and I’m seriously going to rip the heart of the person in the next room downloading shit. (Not really) Now that I’ve got that out of my system, I’ll be sharing my fitness progress so far. This will be a sort of collaborative post with the post that I wrote before called “New fitness routine at the gym + I now weigh 72kg“. In that post I uploaded an image that showed...

New fitness routine at the gym + I now weigh 72kg (wtf!)

Posted by on Dec 22, 2013 in Health

That’s right ladies and gents. I now have a fitness routine that I’ll be doing every time I attend the gym, which will be around 3 – 4 days a week. But before I get into that, I’d like to first mark my weight in this blog post. I now weigh around 72kgs, which is kind of weird in my mind as I weighed 85kgs when I came back to the UK. I’ve somehow lost all of this weight and haven’t even noticed it, as I haven’t really been taking care of my fitness levels or body – as a matter of fact. I’m not sure if I should be celebrating or concerned. Either way, now that I know this I’m eating much more and I’m doing resistance training exercise. I’ve bought lots of healthy food with a great...

Balaam Leisure Centre – I’m now a gym goer!

Posted by on Dec 20, 2013 in Food, Health

I’m officially a gym goer now. I signed up to a gym that is very local and is only 7 minutes walking distance from where I live. Last week I had a tour of the place and I pretty much liked it from the start. It’s funny as I did a Google search for this gym and there were quite a few negative reviews. Here are a few of the reviews: The leisure centre/gym has an overall rating of 3.1 out of 5. This is obviously not very good and I do think they need to make a few changes – that aren’t too costly nor too difficult to make. So what are those changes? I agree with the second review above – and that was made a year ago. Staff at reception seemed a little abrupt and they...
