Pagerank update, 11/07/2011

Posted by on Nov 8, 2011 in Updates

Today there was a pagerank update, which happened to be pretty awesome, although this blog didn’t see any pagerank update and stayed at pagerank 1. Though to be honest I haven’t exactly advertised or done any marketing on this website so in the end in comes down to doing advertising and getting back link backs which is where you incur higher pagerank.    My armored vehicle website got a great update from pagerank 3 to pagerank 4. I’ll be honest and say that I thought the pagerank would stay the same however it seems it increased. Notably I am trying to rank higher for the keyword term “armored vehicles“, which is failing at the moment, however I haven’t placed full momentum on that yet. However pagerank really has nothing to do with SERPs. I’d rather have a higher SERP...

I have the memory of a fish when it comes to Mandarin Chinese

Posted by on Nov 7, 2011 in Updates

Although I really want to learn Mandarin I'm finding great difficulties in grasping the language. Or I find great difficulties in understanding in what is being taught by my teacher. I try to translate what she is saying into English but always seem to fail. There are many differences when it comes to translating and those differences can impact an entire sentences' wording or understanding. – It is also time consuming. I need to get out of the mode of translating and I need to start thinking about what characters when combined together mean. Otherwise I'll be in a whole lot of trouble when it comes to next semester. Although I will be re-taking the same level.    I'm just dissapointed with myself. I used to be the highest in my college class for computer programming. As for Mandarin-Chinese,...

Stupid dialogue tomorrow and I still haven’t memorised it (nearly 4 am)

Posted by on Nov 3, 2011 in Blog, Updates

The question remains, do I go to class today? LOL   I'm banging my head over this dialogue, I have probably repeated it over 50 times already and I still cannot memorise most of it. 🙁   Another thing I'll complain about:   I WISH I HAD MORE CONFIDENCE DAMNIT! ...

Time to study just a dialogue

Posted by on Nov 3, 2011 in Updates

I haven't studied for almost a week. I haven't even touched my book and to be honest I don't want to study. However for tomorrow I have been informed that I have a test which I have to do which involves memorising a dialogue.    Instead of memorising the Chinese-Mandarin characters, which usually takes me 7 hours to memorise an entire lesson's characters which usually consist of around 25 or 37 in this case, I will purely focus on this stupid dialogue I have to do. I already memorised the previous lessons dialogue however the teacher didn't even get us to read that dialogue even though I had that perfectly memorised.    Now I have to memorise a dialogue of which I haven't even practised the characters for. But that doesn't matter, as long as I can memorise the...

My birthday…

Posted by on Oct 29, 2011 in Life, Updates

It was recently my birthday and I didn’t really do much. I was going to go clubbing however had my I.D. at my parents place for reasons which coincide with the post below. I purely went out with friends however it wasn’t for my birthday however we kind of celebrated it as if it was for my birthday. We went to this little expensive restaurant called “Little Italy”. The food was delicious. I have more pictures on my Picasa and Facebook, which can be found here:   It was a pretty fun day today. I wish I could have gone clubbing, but alas I didn’t have my I.D. I can blame Taichung Council since I had to hand over my I.D. since my mother is handling my military service issue with them. :/   But I don’t usually...

If I could give an example of the word “misinformation” it would be ‘Taichung Council’

Posted by on Oct 28, 2011 in Updates

Okay so a couple weeks ago I went to the local Taichung registration office. The guy that was taking care of my situation entered all the information that was required and gave me a few dates on when I would have to join the military. I chose the furthest option which would mean I would have to join the military next year (2012) in March. That was all cool and settled. However what happened after was that they phoned my parents place saying I would have to join anywhere in the next few weeks or possibly next month.   This has got me stressed as I at least wanted to do one more term of Chinese before I join the military. Otherwise I’ve heard stories from friends and even my cousin suggesting I’d be made fun of due to...

Real Steel is awesome!

Posted by on Oct 27, 2011 in Updates

The film ‘Real Steel’ is a Hollywood film however a pretty good one for what my opinion is worth to anyone.   Having just watched it with a friend, I am glad to say that we both enjoyed it.   If they make a sequel to the film, I would definitely go and watch it. I’m very interested in these types of films.   I’ve also been eyeing up another film called “In Time”, although I didn’t enjoy Justin Timberlake’s performance in “Friends with Benefits”, “In Time” seems to be more science fiction as opposed to romance which is essentially what “Friends with Benefits” is.   Back to Real Steel, essentially the film is set in the future where instead of people boxing you have robots boxing each other out inside a ring. These robots are manually controlled however there are robots that...

“The only mistake in life is the lesson not learned.” – Albert Einstein “The person who says something is impossible should not interrupt the person who is doing it.”   – Chinese Proverbs     “Worrying is the same thing as banging your head against the wall. It only feels good when you stop.”   – John Powers     “Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drowned your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”   – Steve Jobs     “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”  ...

Economic situation in Europe

Posted by on Oct 26, 2011 in Updates

From a few articles I've read on the economic mess in Europe is that Greece seems to be the contagious virus along with Spain and Italy. Though Greece being the largest of the contagion as they will likely be on EU benefits just to pay off their debt and their deficit for quite a long time. Especially as their economy is hardly growing with most of the population up in arms protesting about austerity measures being taken in Greece to curb deficit spending.    Referendum on the United Kingdom leaving the EU   A lot of people want to leave the EU in the UK. It is the number one source of immigration into the UK and it costs a hell of a lot of money to stay in the EU. However some would argue that it is entirely...

It’s not that I hate Chinese, it is the fact I hate failure.

Posted by on Oct 21, 2011 in Updates

I am well known to my friends at them thinking I hate the Chinese Mandarin language. I do not in-fact hate the language, in its own sinister way I enjoy learning the language.   The sole reason I am saddened with this language is because I fail at it majorly. Even the most simple questions, while under pressure, I was thinking too much and in the end I forgot everything I learned. Just the simple questions.   Sometimes I am embarrassed to say I am Taiwanese as well as British considering the fact that my Chinese sucks while foreigners (Even though I should be classified as a foreigner) are much better than me at the language. – I pretty much am a fine definition of a foreigner if anyone didn't know I had Taiwanese citizenship. The only thing going...
