I just renewed 5 of my domain names and that cost me over $50!
I guess in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t cost much, since you only have to pay for the domain names per year, meaning most of my domains are mine until I have to renew them next year in 2013.
I remember a time when domain renewals were only 7.99 and sometimes much, much lower.
Now, it costs an extra $2 for renewal. I guess, as domains become more and more bought there will be no “good” domain names for purchase; unless of course it’s a unique name. (In which case, well, there isn’t much of an argument for that; though most of the good names are taken; frankly speaking)

Taichung City Government has issued a typhoon warning, and they have said the following:
“It is hereby announced that offices and classes are closed on June 20, 2012 due to the latest tropical storm.”
Essentially, this means that I have no work today as my office is closed.
I’m not complaining, but I’ve been outside and there doesn’t appear to be a typhoon of any kind. Last night however there was a typhoon, as it was raining quite heavily, though I’m no typhoon or weather expert, so perhaps there will be typhoon later in the day that I am supposed to avoid.
Good news, after yesterday.
Update:
Around 4 hours ago it started raining quite heavily, and it is still raining right now. When I mean heavy rain, I mean the heaviest rain I have seen so far in Taiwan.

I know very few people who’ve made it out of gambling. Around 3 years ago I lost around £1,000 on a gambling website, after being up £300.
I panicked as I was losing my money playing poker, thinking I could regain it all in the same way I had been able to gain (Win) £300 originally. So I continued until my metered amount went to £0.00. It was devastating and I nearly thought of committing suicide. But that obviously wasn’t worth the cost, I’d have to lose everything I owned before I could do anything as serious as that.
Determined to make my money back, I started gambling again and I made my £1000 back and called it quits. I made my money back playing poker and just decided I’d stop there. It wasn’t worth the risk of going through all that again. But if you really know how to play poker then you should try the game online and if it works for you then you must set a limit.
Before gambling always plan before hand:
- Work out how much you can afford to lose. (SET A LIMIT) Don’t make bets any larger than the money you can actually spend. Please, do not use a credit card as you’ll end up losing another person’s money or some bank’s money at interest.
- Behave sensibly when gambling, although taking big risks might be all about what gambling is, can you afford it?
- Maintain control and think before you do.
- Set a certain amount of time you want to gamble.
- Know how to play the game, otherwise the game will play you.
- Do not try and recover any losses immediately. Trust me, you’ll make bad decisions that way.
Just be aware that the game is meant for the dealers to make the money, otherwise these big casino websites wouldn’t be raking in as much money as they’d like and it simply wouldn’t be profitable for them.
So is gambling a good idea?
From my perspective it isn’t. However, if you know how to play the game and you just want to have some fun and you can control your spending, then I see no problem with it at-all. Just don’t become addicted to throwing your money away.

I recently came across this beautiful swimming centre, and I’ve now dedicated myself to go this place for at least a day per week!
It is in Taichung and I haven’t actually seen it advertised on the internet yet. However, as the forgetful person I am — I’ve actually forgotten the name of this swimming centre.
It features jacuzzi’s, hot tubs, swimming pools, sauna’s and basically the whole lot. It includes facilities for children, older people and generally works for everyone. They even have a tub which is full of ice water which, perhaps, could be perceived as relaxing — although I’d rather not catch a cold, so I prefer to use the hot tubs.
I’m going again tomorrow, so I’ll take some pictures and take note of the actual name of the facility itself — along with the address. It takes around 20 minutes on foot, from Taichung station and around 10 minutes by bus to get to this place. I would say it is above average in terms of the swimming facilities you can find in Taichung.
Cost
It costs around $200NT per person for one visit. However, I paid $500NT for 5 visits using my student ID card, so ensure you bring that along with you; if you have that. If not, it will cost $200NT –, however there are other pricing options which I’ll ensure to get down when I travel there tomorrow! 🙂

Yesterday, I turned up to Feng-Chia for the first time in 4 days and all I could see was a sea of people. Previous to the four days, everything was calm and relaxed and there was hardly anyone on the streets or around the night market. It was as if things had ‘died down’ a bit.
I guess it is the Chinese New Year/Lunar New Year holiday which has caused this vast increase, in the amount of people swarming the night market of Feng-Chia. Here are some pics: (They aren’t good pics as there were too many people and I couldn’t really just stop without blocking anyone behind me)
