Took a day off work today

Took a day off work today

I’ve been infected somehow as I had to miss a day of work today. I’ve been a complete mess since Sunday. Friday evening was fine. Saturday… well, was also fine. Aside from the fact I fell down the stairs with a plate in my hand. I had to go out and buy a new plate. I’m not putting that down to old age, but the fact that my head was spinning from Friday evening where I had drunk too much. I still managed to go to the gym on Saturday and Sunday. But Sunday evening was just terrible. I couldn’t sleep, I was heating up, even though it wasn’t that hot, and I just didn’t feel right. I likely caught some germ/bug whilst at the gym. I bought myself a packet of Lockets, which helped me sneeze quite a bit, but I still felt quite awful. Thus why I did not go in to work today. I did try working from home, but that didn’t work out well, and I just fell asleep.

I know I have to go into work tomorrow, no matter what. There’s just too much work to be done and taking 2 days of work off at the moment isn’t going to work without disrupting the workflow. (I try my best to be a good employee)

We’ll see how it goes tomorrow. I feel like this at the moment:

Work I haven't done meme

I’m actually feeling quite anxious, as I have two presentations to give this week. Oh, and did I say that I’m really bad at public speaking? It’ll be a test, as I haven’t really been tested for this sort of stuff yet, but we’ll see how it goes. I definitely won’t be chicken and not turn up. What deters me is the fact that I could humiliate myself and that would effectively ruin my self-esteem.

Meeting an old friend

Meeting an old friend

Today I met up with an old friend of mine from secondary school. I can’t honestly say that the experience was enjoyable as we went to this bar where they were playing loud music and it was really difficult communicating. I was trying to get a catch up as to what she’d been doing the past 2 years, but as I said, it was too difficult to communicate with the music and all. Then we went to this disco… where she and her friend were kind of dancing and staring at each other, smiling, as they were kind of dancing. I wasn’t sure if they were sober or if this was their normal behavior. Either way, it was an extremely weird experience… But it was good seeing her again and knowing that she’s doing well for herself! 🙂

Here’s a pic with me and her: (I’m not sure if I have any old photos to make a comparison from secondary school)

86kg to 84kg! Weight lost!

86kg to 84kg! Weight lost!

I’ve lost weight!

This year I weighed around 86kg after putting on weight when my sister left Taiwan. She visited for like a month and during that period I did not exercise. Before my sister arrived in Taiwan, I exercised every single day and sure enough I was doing well. But, boy, when my sister came here she really increased the amount of food I was eating. We would always be eating something and her eating habits slowly drifted onto me. I was begging not go to any buffet restaurants, as I also wanted my sister to lose weight as well.

So, by the time she left I weighed a cool 86kg. I knew I had put on weight and I got myself into gear and restarted my exercising regime the first day she left.

I’ve now cut myself down to just 84kg. It’s been tough as I feel I’ve hit a plateau, but clearly I’m still losing weight and I recently found that out after going in for a check-up to a local hospital. (I’m healthy, thankfully) I’m 183cm and weigh 84.1kg. I’m quite happy with that as I thought the machine would say I was 85kg or more.

As for pictures, I don’t have any at the moment and I don’t feel like taking any; however, I do have an old body shot (of my stomach) and I may put a comparison picture of my progress so far.

Trip to Kaohsiung (高雄)

Trip to Kaohsiung (高雄)

I recently went to this place called Gaoxiong (Pinyin) or Kaohsiung (TW Pinyin; 高雄) and it is the first time I’ve been there since I’ve been in Taiwan. Usually, foreigners will travel around and go places; however, little old me has just primarily stayed in Taichung.  I’m boring I guess. Although if cash weren’t a concern I’d be going anywhere and everywhere, so I need to be a little fiscally conservative if I want to survive.

I went with a group of friends and with my sister, and we met up with my friend’s relatives who took us around Kaohsiung on a sort of tour guide of the nice places in and out of the city.

One of those places we went to was a place called Cháishān (柴山), a mountain in Kaohsiung that has a monkey reserve sitting on it! Below you can see a few pictures I took of the monkeys on Chaishan!

Here are the pics:

The strange things you see in Taiwan

The strange things you see in Taiwan

Explanation:

They look kind of like pandas, but they are not! They are in fact dogs, and the owners placed them there, on a busy high-street to collect money for them. It says to spread the word on Facebook (FB) etc to raise awareness.

Where Burger King in Feng-Chia, Taichung used to be located

Oh, and this is where Burger King used to be located; however it seems they either weren’t profitable enough or they are just renovating the place. Who knows? Either way, Burger King seems to no longer be here anymore. Instead we have cute fluffy dogs sitting in-front of the old restaurant’s position.
