Weight loss journey from 2010 – 2013

Broken leg

This is when I broke my leg at the age of 16.

Losing weight has always been something that I’ve wanted to do, but that I’ve never done until recent. I didn’t use to be overweight (I’m not overweight now – as I write this) and at one point I could run for as long as I wanted and was one of the best long distance runners in my school year at secondary school. (See picture to the right; you can see that I wasn’t overweight at all.)

That is of course until I broke my leg playing football. I missed 6 months of school that I could never recover and if I was ever behind in any subject at school, it was at that point where I was doing my worst. I started putting on weight, as I could not exercise for over a year and a half, and I had not bothered to watch my weight. Life was on the downside and I piled on the stones/pounds like a baby elephant.

My leg injury, which damaged my growth plate, has still left its everlasting mark on me and has caused me to have issues like early symptoms of arthritis, it has affected me in more ways than I could have imagined. However, I’m committed to doing what I’ve always wanted to be, a fit and healthy person. I plan to complete marathons and I plan to become a healthier me.

I could ramble on and on, but that would be quite boring. To say as little as I can, I put on weight and managed to top weights of around 110kg, which is around 17 stones, 244lbs or 0.111 metric tonnes. 😛 I was a heavy motherfucker.

Here is a little graphic I made of my journey: (Read more below)

Weight loss

This is a graphic I created of my weight loss journey from 2010 – 2013. Sorry for the 2010 pic being so rubbish. It’s the only pic I really have as I never took pics before as I was extremely self-conscious. Pics weren’t my thing.

I really started getting my act together from 2010; I realized I had to do something and I this was also a time where I had moved to Taiwan.

So for the first time in years, I started running again. At first it was baby steps. I remember not being able to jog for even 5 minutes without feeling extremely fatigued. I ran for as long as I could, switched to walking, then started running. I then progressed slowly and then I pushed myself more and more. I can now run for an hour straight, and I feel I’ve come a really long way.

So I’ve given up at points (it’s been fucking hard) and 3 weeks ago I restarted my exercising regime again and now I’m pushing myself harder with different combinations of exercising. I’ve dedicated myself to running so far as I really want to lose the weight. At the moment, that’s my dream and that’s my goal.

I’m now running for at least 40 minutes per day, with some cheat days, lifting my dumbbells, doing press ups, sits ups etc on a daily basis. I’m back down to 85kg from 86kg, and I’m trying my best to eat healthy. However, I’ve been eating a lot of food recently due to my relatives stuffing me like a pig, and not wanting to be rude, I’ve just eaten all the food I’ve been given. Nonetheless the exercise has stopped me from gaining weight, while also making my progress as of late, slow. I’m actually in the process of toning up, and the graphic is a little out of date as I now weigh 84kg, though the difference may seem minuscule. I’m doing more weight lifting than before and I think that has really helped in shaping my form.

Last Day at ZenithOptimedia
