What have I been up to this week?

To put it lightly, not very much.

As previously stated in another blog post, it was Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year as Taiwanese people would prefer you to say, so I stayed around my parents apartment for most of the time. We visited my cousins, uncles and other relatives on one occasion and celebrated Lunar New Year.

However, mostly in the week, my parents and I stayed at home– and I of course enjoyed my mothers great cooking; plus I didn’t really spend much. (So I saved a bit of money in that sense)

My relationship with my girlfriend is still strong, we speak to each other almost everyday for a few hours and that still doesn’t satisfy me. 😀 Not seeing her face, holding her hand and not being able to talk to her is very depressing. I guess she is the match that lights up my life. (That was probably the strangest analogy, I’ve come up with)

Today probably was the highlight of my day, considering I had pizza with my good friend “Jun”. My mothers friend gave me a sh*t load of pizza, chicken and potato. So I shared it with my friend considering the fact, I would not have been able to have eaten all of it.

Tomorrow, is the start of learning Mandarin, as I’ll have my speaking and listening class as well as my writing class as the holiday finishes up. I didn’t really study much, however I studied the grammar for the most part for the upcoming lesson and a few characters for the lesson thereafter.

Also another update, my sister is coming to Taiwan. I guess I was becoming a little bored of Taiwan as it was becoming very samey or without any variety. Just the same old, same old and not particularly doing anything different. – It gets boring after a while. Although with my sister coming, hopefully that changes for the better. I suggested to my father we take her to this place called Kenting, which I’ve wanted to go to on numerous occasions; however have never found the time. This means missing some Mandarin classes, which is fine, considering I haven’t seen my sister in over a year.

— Signing out and going to sleep!

New Design

New Design

In light of Chinese New Year/Lunar New year, I changed the design of this website to something different. I was getting tired/bored of the old design; it had a few issues.

Plus, with this design I am able to do more – in terms of back-end changes and I think it looks better – all in all.

Old design:

New design:

Although when I look back at these screenshot’s, the first doesn’t look too bad; if I am honest. However I like change especially this change, I feel my website looks more modern.

New logo:

Jargoned Logo

The sub-logo or slogan says “Welcome to my life!” in Mandarin. I feel the language looks visually beautiful, so I used Mandarin for this reason.

Although most of this blog is in English, hopefully if anyone asks about what it means, they would have either of read this or they can alternatively just ask me. : ) Though I doubt many people read my blog anyway. 😛

New shoes

New shoes

Today I bought a new pair of shoes! It was a bit costly however it was a needed replacement considering the state of my old shoes.

– Made in China like 99% of shoes. =P Though the brand is definitely real, I bought it in an Adidas store. – Though like that matters, right?

The picture is not that great in terms of quality. I took it with my phone, which seems to have degraded in terms of picture quality. I probably need to change a setting or something. My theory is that I have activated a setting which tries to make the photo look artistic. However for me, it makes the picture look like shit to be honest.

I’m pretty good at bowling!

I’m pretty good at bowling!

(09/12/2011) Today I went bowling, which was pretty fun! I beat the people I was with 3 times! I averaged over 100 points each game and I got several strikes and quite a few half strikes. I was actually quite impressed with my bowling skills. I also taught my cousins boyfriend how to bowl and I could see he got much better. It is purely just not looking at the pins (The pins are the distraction). You need to look at the ground markers only and aim for them. – 9 times out of 10, you will get the ball going down the middle.

I’m the “15G” guy! I played a little better than usual however with a little more practice,  I think I would be pretty decent at bowling at any rate. It is purely just hitting the ball straight down the middle and knowing how to do that. – While also lunging forward enough to get enough speed into the ball to get it rolling fast exactly down the middle. I actually think it is possible to get strikes every round quite easily if you practiced enough.

After bowling we went to this place Lenkung (sp?) township, it is a 1 hour drive from Taichung city to this place. But it is interesting. It is considered as the “old town” since everything, including the buildings are very old. The shops & markets there also looked old. It was an interesting look. The reason I came here, was because I was travelling with my cousins, her boyfriend and also their friends. They went there purely to say a prayer or bow to an idol for the Moon Festival season.

However before this, we ate at an ice desert place. The desert they made was delicious. Though I believe you can buy similar types of food all around Taiwan:

I will end it there. I had a pretty decent day out today – which was a lot of fun!

So how did that amazing job interview go?

So how did that amazing job interview go?

It turns out I was just pleasing the wife's husbands bosses 12 year old son which was kind of boring. I made friends with him for sure, but I wasn't looking to make friends with a 12 year old but to get a job. To my surprise she took me to an Italian restaurant then to a Hong Kong style restaurant. I tried discussing her husbands business or her business (A joint business between them) but that never really got anywhere.

I don't think I was going for an interview but just to make friends with their son(s). Their other 19 year old son seemed pretty cool. But purely he just seemed to be the guy living the life since he has a well-off family. I mean he seemed like a nice guy and everything, but from the looks of it, he had no actual worries or no financial problems. I won't dishonor him by saying bad things about him, as he genuinely seemed like a pretty cool 19 year old. I guess I am more grown up, I feel that I am 25 or something even though I wish I could feel my own age. He liked to go out clubbing and stuff like that. I don't mind that too, but just moderately.

So I never had an interview. At the end of the day she came back to my parents apartment. I think I stayed with her son for over 10 hours. We played on their Nintendo Cube. We played some really graphically outdated games in comparison to what I am used to. But whatever the case, I think I had a spark of fun. But I kind of got a headache over the whole situation. I was expected and anticipating a job interview. The thing is I don't have any actual real skills. I wouldn't mind being a secretary as I can touch type and I am competent with computers. But where I fault is if  they ask if I can help with the programming of software. I didn't quite get into all that even though I would have liked to.

So she came round my parents apartment with myself and her younger son, and my mother had a discussion about the so called job. Apparently it is happening tomorrow now since the husband who is the boss just came back from Japan. So now I have to be nervous again for the second time. Luckily I have my mother with me. But really I have no real specialist skill other than touch typing and being competent with computers like I said. Hell — this kind of makes me feel rather useless.

Whatever the case, I will go in with this job and see how it goes. According to my mother I am guaranteed a job. My exit strategy if things go wrong is to just become a Taiwanese citizen through my mother then join the army for 12 months with the required military conscription and see how that goes. Obviously I would rather this job if it is good pay, to which I don't know yet. But I would kind of like to join the army. I exercise every single day now and I think the army would help me get much more fit and would help me cut down to the right shape and toned figure.

Peace out.
