My new goal in life right now to get back on track is to learn Chinese. That is my primary objective. However my smaller objectives which usually get pushed to the side are:
Getting fit
There was one point in my life where I was extremely fit, I could go for miles without stopping at a good fast pace and I could do this without struggling much. Especially so in the previous cross country run’s my school hosted. I usually came 3rd place, but you have to remember I was up against bigger guys in year 11. So the race was kind of unfair. But I had people in my class who I would say that were also quite fit. But they didn’t have the stamina. They may have been faster, but they would stop running after a certain period. I guess I had that determination back then to keep going. So I want my old self back and my aim is to go to the running truck, and do the following:
- Run 4 times around the running truck in 30º degree weather. Though I am not using the weather as an excuse, but I could probably do a damn lot more if the weather in Taiwan was not so hot.
- 10-20 press-ups per night.
- 20 sit-ups in the day.
- Generally not eat fatty foods.
Though I did sin today and I ate 5 pieces of pizza. When it comes to pizza I cannot hold myself. If it was McDonalds, KFC or some other fast food restaurant food, I would not have touched it. But pizza is one of my most favorite foods. Though if someone does bring back pizza I will not fall into temptation again. That is a guarantee. – So that is the last time I will be touching pizza.
Generally I’m going to eating less.
My current weight as it stands is 96 kg. I am overweight. Though you really can’t see it as my fat is spread around, but will admit I do have a little bit of a belly and horrible love handles which I would love to get rid off. Though when I look at pictures of myself, I actually look quite athletic. But when I take my shirt of that is where there is a disaster. You can see my fat for miles, lets just say.
Whatever the case, I’m hoping to lose all of it. Well of course not all of it, but most.
I am considered overweight for my height. I am 6’0″ and I have a BMI of 26.2. If I go jogging for half an hour a day I can burn 336.96 calories which is 2358.72 calories per week. Though once I become fit, I would like to aim for 1 hour of jogging per day. I really need to buy a stopwatch just to time myself and keep myself on track. Unfortunately I live in Taiwan and I do not know of any place to buy a stop watch. So I guess I’ll have to use a phone or something. Though a stopwatch would be nice.

I’m going on a trip to Hong Kong this Wednesday (09/02/2011) from Taiwan to Hong Kong Intl. Airport.
I’m hoping to see an old friend who I went to school with in London but who flew back to her home country in Hong Kong after she finished her secondary school education. (Asian families who are rich or moderately rich will send their children to other countries to learn western culture and of course the language; English)
I’m quite pumped for this trip. Though it isn’t the actual reason I’m going to Hong Kong primarily. I’m doing this so I don’t overstay my stay in Taiwan of 90 days to which the UK and Taiwan representatives have agreed for a visa exempt visiting stay. I screwed up by not renewing this visitor stay by a further 90 days as you can only do that 30 days (As I found out) before you are required to leave at the start of the date you arrived in Taiwan. (If that makes any sense)
So I’m paying for that now and when I return I’ll apply for my dual nationality so I don’t have to keep doing this. But the requirement would then be myself joining the army for a year. – Which I don’t mind doing, though I’d rather not, but I will do it, if I really have to only.
It should be a good trip though. I’m a little nervous going by myself since I don’t speak Chinese well. However my mother has friends in Hong Kong who are going to take care of me. 🙂 It will be good seeing my friend again as I haven’t actually seen her for around 2 years now and she actually cried to me when she found out her family wanted her back in Hong Kong.
I find it especially funny since my sister was always talking to her saying that they’d go and see her, and they are much closer friends; yet I am the one seeing her first. :p

Since moving to Taiwan, the one thing I have nearly killed over is those irritating mosquitoes who bite you and you don’t even know it! Then you find out you have several itchy lumps on your arms, face, legs and wherever your freaking skin is visible. It is literally getting to the stage where I am getting bit every single day. I’ve tried sprays, a fly zapper in my room when I sleep and I’ve even killed some mosquitoes with my bear freaking hands. Yeah, I’ve caught quite a few actually; though I’m no expert in the art killing these bugs. But they still keep coming and the next day I find that I have some lumps still even though I take measures to stop those little bastards.
On top of my bad mood with these mosquitoes, I had one of my teeth pulled out as there were 2 roots to one tooth or apparently one trying to grow beneath my other tooth which subsequently was painstakingly pulled out. Or should I say, cut in half then pulled out. I mean boy oh boy, it was painful, they cut my tooth in half, then used what looked like screw driver for teeth, to use this tool for leverage to break my tooth’s root out. I mean they gave me like 10 injections (Local anesthetic) but it still hurt like a bitch. – I originally had a pretty cute women from Canada (Who is Asian — oh do I love Asians with Canadian accents, especially if they are hot) but she wasn’t strong enough to pull my tooth out, so they called in this old bloke who pulled the tooth out even though he saw I was in extreme pain. At least with the girl she was gentle and was slowly taking out my teeth by cutting it into different sections. 😀 Oh and she had her hand on my face … or was that her hand holding my mouth open? I don’t care, she was hot, cute smile too. I think she kind of enjoyed that I was in pain… as I guess I put some funny faces out there when trying to be brave in front of her lol!
Hopefully those mosquitoes will go away once I find where the hell they are coming from!

Mostly in Taiwan everyone lives in an apartment. Unless you are rich or you have a big family you’ll buy a house if you can afford a mortgage. However in Taiwan if you are going to rent a place, it should really be an apartment if you are on a low budget. When in the UK I lived in a nice spacious house in comparison to the place I’m living in right now in Taiwan. Currently I am dissatisfied with the apartment I am living in. It is tiny and not very nice.
I planned this around a month ago and found the place and I am moving in tomorrow morning. I just have to get the internet moved over there and get my whole life sorted out over there along with my family who live in Taiwan with me. I’m just glad I’ll be living in an apartment where I can at least have a little freedom. As currently, I can’t really put anything anywhere as I’m living with other people I haven’t known for a long time and the apartment I’m in now is so small; there are not many places I can put things.
Whatever the case, things are looking up for me at the moment. But my life isn’t what I suspected it to be. Though those wise men would say in those films “it usually never is what you suspected it to be” or whatever. 😉

2010 has been an interesting year. I’ve been through my ups and lows throughout this year, or to even say that 2010 has been my worst year is a long shot off. But people say that new years are a fresh start. I just hope for the love of everything that is me, my new life in a foreign country is a good one and one that continues with the career of my life. Life is a lot like a job to me. However successful you are in life, reflects usually on one’s well being and happiness. I just hope I do the right things in life.

I know I’ve expressed I have an asshole of an uncle, in my “asshole of an uncle” blog, but I’m not so sure whether he is an actual asshole or not. Well okay, he is an asshole, but not that much of an asshole; if you get what I mean. Whatever the case, he isn’t as bad as I thought and maybe he just had a bad day when I made that blog. But whatever the case, its a new year and I’m willing to give people second chances. 🙂
I think I can make a decent life here in Taiwan. Though I’m a little scared. Life isn’t as what I’ve dreamed about or what I’ve wanted it to be, but sometimes you can’t choose the direction in life you want to go. Sometimes you just take the option in front of you and hope for the best. This is the case in my life I feel.
