A Couple of Days in Berlin

by | Dec 6, 2019 | Travel

I’ll be working for Forbes in the new year, officially starting on the 11th of February, 2020. I am really excited about the role, and what it will entail. In light of my new job, my soon to be new employer flew me out to Berlin for the Berlin 30 under 30 event and to meet the rest of the team.

Check Point Charlie

Managed to do a couple of 6.5k runs in Berlin and ran all the way to Checkpoint Charlie:

Fuhrerbunker

I also went to the ‘Fuhrerbunker Museum‘ where they converted what was a food storage bunker into a museum that had information inside about World War II and of Hitler’s demise.

They also had a replica of the room that Hitler would have been and where he finally shot himself. If you’re into history, then it is worth it. The tour itself is 2 hours long (the Hitler – How Could It Happen? tour), +1 hour if you want to go through the Berlin Story part of the bunker. You get earphones and an audio guide which tells you all about the history as you go through room by room discovering how the war first started to how it eventually ended.

Brandenburg Gate

Headed out and cycled all the way to the Brandenburg Gate by Uber Bike. I’d actually never used an Uber Bike before Berlin and actually was looking for them when I was in Switzerland the week after. I am actually a fan of the Uber bikes as they make hiring a bike really accessible, as you don’t need to return it at some shop somewhere and they were everywhere around the city.

Overall, it was a fun trip. I also went out clubbing with the folk at Forbes – though that probably deserves its own post.

Alas, it was a good trip to Berlin and I did enjoy it. It did remind me of London a little, though it’s definitely a lot more spacious and definitely a lot cheaper than London when it comes to things like public transport, food, and everything else.

I’d definitely recommend Berlin for a place to visit and I would love to visit again at some point in the future – with a much better planned itinerary.

Tough Mudder 2019

From getting zapped to dunking your entire body into freezing cold water, Tough Mudder this year was amazing. This was my second time doing Tough Mudder as I had done Tough Mudder, 2014 - one of the first Tough Mudder events held in London (none of the events are...

I went white water rafting at the Lee Valley White Water Centre as part of a group for my friend's birthday. I was rather nervous about doing this as I had never done white water rafting in my life. The Experience The experience and professionalism of the staff was...

Connected to the internet [at home] again

The past couple of weeks have been terrible for me. 3 months ago I moved into a flat in Camden Town and agreed to sublet a room. For the first 2 months, things went well and there was really no worry. The couple I live with are great and we have nice conversations...

Mordeth13 Seriously Injured in Motorbike Accident

I lived in Taiwan for 2 years and used to watch Mordeth13's videos on a regular basis. I stopped due to work commitments, life in general and because I just stopped using YouTube to watch people talk about their lives. But for the period that I did, it filled a void...

Last Day at ZenithOptimedia

Last Day at ZenithOptimedia

Yesterday, was my last day working at ZenithOptimedia, UK. It was not as emotional as I thought it would have been (for myself), but my good friend, Christina Hirst, was shedding the tears on behalf of everyone else (I think that’s what happened). They created an...

House Hunting In London – Nightmare

Where do I begin? Finding a decent place to live in London is unbelievably difficult as you're literally competing against others for that awesome room that you found on either Spare Room or GumTree. Am I right guys? I viewed a place in Edgware Rd only a week ago and...

Tough Mudder 2014

Tough Mudder: a 12 mile obstacle/assault course that I had just completed yesterday with a bunch of other people I went with. It was utterly brutal with obstacle after obstacle putting your mental thought to work as to whether you can continue or not. Or in...
