Wandering Around London

by | Sep 13, 2014 | Travel

Living in London can be amazing at times – especially if you live in Zone 1, where you can conveniently walk to locations that are full of joy and happiness. Today I went on a little wander around the city after having gone to the gym for around an hour and a half. Before that actually I ran for around 1.9 miles. I didn’t complete the 2 miles because that’s exactly how far I live from my gym. I’m training for Tough Mudder (12 miles; October 25th) and Survival of the Fittest (6.2 miles; November 22nd), which is why I’ve been picking up from where I stopped running and mainly focused on lifting weights. I’ve also started using the Nike+ Running App to benchmark my progress. Here’s where I’m at so far:

I ran 1.9 miles in 18 minutes. That’s not bad, but I’m going to have to pick up the pace or in fact run at a stable pace in order for my fitness levels to be high enough for Tough Mudder. Anyways, after I finished up at the gym I had to find something to eat as I was starving. I then, for some odd reason, had this urge to eat fish and chips. I’ve forgotten the name of the place, but the place is a complete rip off. The food was decent, but not worth the £8.50 that I paid for it. It looked delicious at the time:

I soon regretted it after seeing the bill. I won’t make this mistake again.

After that triumphant mistake I had a nice little stroll around central London and visited places such as Leicester Square, China Town and Convent Garden. I watched street shows in Leicester Square and generally mused around. Whilst in Convent Garden I came across a human-powered car:

It looked like a right laugh. I’d love to do this someday or the other.

Although I had that expensive fish and chips, I was still hungry and ready to eat something else. I went to Itsu and had the Chicken Soup. Itsu is one of my favourite places to go to when I’m in the mood to read. I’m currently reading a book on Chinese history surrounding the leadership of Empress Dowager Cixi:

If you’re fascinated by Chinese history then this is definitely a good read. Last week, I bought a book aptly named ‘Genghis Khan’ – you’d never guess what the book is about! I’ll be reading that book as soon as I’m done with the book above, so I’ve got plenty of material.

I guess that’s it for now. Peace out!

Last Day at ZenithOptimedia
