Life update post

by | Jan 31, 2013 | Updates

I am sure I’ve made similar posts to this post about my future. The uncertainties, the worries and the “What will happen… questions”. But, I’ve decided that I would like to make a return to the UK to study again or to simply go back to work! I can leave Taiwan in  March/June/July as that is the period that I can stay in the Taiwan; unless I want to do Taiwanese military service, as I am Taiwanese, as well as being British. I would have done the military service last year (I actually wanted to do it then), but I feel that I’ve wasted a year, so I’m no longer interested in doing it and I really need to get studying/working before I become too old and become useless.

Returning to the UK won’t be easy, let’s just say that my family have had problems and that we no longer have a house in the UK and my sister is staying with a friend in the UK. Essentially, if I go back… I’ll be spending whatever money I take over on a place to stay and I won’t be able to keep that up unless I find a job. – Which is an easier feat to be said rather than done. I don’t know what is feasible anymore and I’m actually worried, which is a good thing as I’m trying to find ways where I’ll actually be able to live without being homeless.

I don’t know. I’m still searching for means and ways to get past the aching in my gut that is telling me that it’s a stupid idea to go back to the UK.

But sometimes we need to step into the uncertain things in order to succeed, right? That’s business 101 right there.

5 Things To Do In Taichung

5 Things To Do In Taichung

Taiwan is a beautiful place; however, as a person who has lived 2 and a half years of my life in Taichung, the middle of Taiwan, I feel that I need to give tips and ideas to those who would like to visit this dear island and this great city. So, in this I'll be...

A Couple of Days in Berlin

A Couple of Days in Berlin

I'll be working for Forbes in the new year, officially starting on the 11th of February, 2020. I am really excited about the role, and what it will entail. In light of my new job, my soon to be new employer flew me out to Berlin for the Berlin 30 under 30 event and to...

Royal Parks Half Marathon – 2h12m

Royal Parks Half Marathon – 2h12m

I did the Royal Parks Half Marathon - with last minute preparations - as I had not done any sort training whatsoever for a run of this distance - though I did do Tough Mudder a couple weeks before this, so that was the only training I had. I was basically filling in...

Tough Mudder 2019

Tough Mudder 2019

From getting zapped to dunking your entire body into freezing cold water, Tough Mudder this year was amazing. This was my second time doing Tough Mudder as I had done Tough Mudder, 2014 - one of the first Tough Mudder events held in London (none of the events are...

White Water Rafting in London (Lee Valley) Review

White Water Rafting in London (Lee Valley) Review

I went white water rafting at the Lee Valley White Water Centre as part of a group for my friend's birthday. I was rather nervous about doing this as I had never done white water rafting in my life. The Experience The experience and professionalism of the staff was...

Connected to the internet [at home] again

The past couple of weeks have been terrible for me. 3 months ago I moved into a flat in Camden Town and agreed to sublet a room. For the first 2 months, things went well and there was really no worry. The couple I live with are great and we have nice conversations...

Mordeth13 Seriously Injured in Motorbike Accident

Mordeth13 Seriously Injured in Motorbike Accident

I lived in Taiwan for 2 years and used to watch Mordeth13's videos on a regular basis. I stopped due to work commitments, life in general and because I just stopped using YouTube to watch people talk about their lives. But for the period that I did, it filled a void...

Last Day at ZenithOptimedia

Last Day at ZenithOptimedia

Yesterday, was my last day working at ZenithOptimedia, UK. It was not as emotional as I thought it would have been (for myself), but my good friend, Christina Hirst, was shedding the tears on behalf of everyone else (I think that’s what happened). They created an...

House Hunting In London – Nightmare

House Hunting In London – Nightmare

Where do I begin? Finding a decent place to live in London is unbelievably difficult as you're literally competing against others for that awesome room that you found on either Spare Room or GumTree. Am I right guys? I viewed a place in Edgware Rd only a week ago and...
