Google reveals its new tablet: Nexus 7

Although the screen is only 7″ and the only camera (The front camera) is quite poor comparison to the $499 iPad 2’s 5 megapixel camera, for the price of $199, you can’t ask for much more. However, if you just want to use this for browsing the web, then this is the perfect tool. Granted you need to be in a WiFi equipped area to use most of the tablet’s functions, you can in-fact use your phone’s 3G connection to create a WiFi hotspot. That’s really my main concern, as it’s quite troublesome or inconvenient to be setting up a connection like that every time you want to access the internet.

I guess the main advantage on this tablet in comparison to Apple’s iPad is that you can connect this to your computer and then you can download films onto it without too much hassle.

I really want to buy this when it gets released, but hey, it’ll be released by 2013. I wouldn’t be surprised if they released it by Christmas time to rake in some Christmas sales.

I’m definitely looking at this as a serious buy as a gift I’d like to buy for myself. However, at the moment, I think my current smart phone is more than capable of doing the job that I require it to do.

Also, the actual tablet is being developed by a Taiwanese company, the large firm ASUS which has created previous “Google phones”. You would really have thought they would have contracted Motorola to develop the hardware for their new tablet, seeing as they bought Motorola for quite an expensive price tag. But hey, I’m glad they are supporting a company that operates in my country. (Taiwan) 🙂

Another new website up!

Another new website up!

I recently bought another website called, Simple Templates.org and I hope to add more designs to its portfolio.

I already have a web hosting design, which I had created quite sometime ago.

I still need to make a few edits to the site and I think I’m also going to add a blog to the site, to give out updates and web design help.

Slow down in terms of exercising…

Slow down in terms of exercising…

Quite obviously, I have not been able to exercise as much as I have wanted to, seeing as I had that tiny issue with my leg. It has been around a month since I had that operation and now I can walk properly and also run.

Last Friday, I started running again and I did swimming and running last weekend up until now.

It feels as if I have lost all my stamina as I can’t run as far without breathing heavily.

For example, I went to the racing track today and I could only run around the track for 15 minutes before feeling really tired. Perhaps, it is my work schedule along with the fact that I hadn’t exercised for 1 month straight. – I more or less became a coach potato, waiting for my leg to recover so I could go out and be active again.

I’m glad to say that I am now active. I’m still trying to regain the stamina that I built up, but I don’t want to push myself too far in-case something really bad does happen to my leg and it’ll be something I’ll regret as I grow up.

I haven’t got the six-pack yet, which I’m aiming for, but I think in a few months time it is very possible looking at my body now. I have done a lot of tone and fat-losing exercising and hopefully it will pay-off.

I just need to stay on track.

Typhoon warning in Taichung

Typhoon warning in Taichung

Taichung City Government has issued a typhoon warning, and they have said the following:

“It is hereby announced that offices and classes are closed on June 20, 2012 due to the latest tropical storm.”

Essentially, this means that I have no work today as my office is closed.

I’m not complaining, but I’ve been outside and there doesn’t appear to be a typhoon of any kind. Last night however there was a typhoon, as it was raining quite heavily, though I’m no typhoon or weather expert, so perhaps there will be typhoon later in the day that I am supposed to avoid.

Good news, after yesterday.

Update:

Around 4 hours ago it started raining quite heavily, and it is still raining right now. When I mean heavy rain, I mean the heaviest rain I have seen so far in Taiwan.

Life seems to have slowed down, so much.

Life seems to have slowed down, so much.

It seems life has slowed down and I’m now experiencing life at a pace which I’m not enjoying. I guess, my life is somewhat robotic in the sense that I do the same thing everyday. At least, when I was in the ‘building websites’ business, at least, I was doing something different. Instead I’m at a job which I’m not enjoying, and I can’t make heads or tails of whether or not I’m going crazy.

The first issue that I’ve encountered is a communication problem, I can figure what I have to do, but everyone obviously speaks Mandarin and my Mandarin is not exactly that good. I can understand some of it, but when it comes to absorbing it as anything useful; that’s where I fail. Essentially, I can understand the basics and that’s about it. I can understand what they want me to do, but when it comes to the question of “How?” they can’t answer me in good enough English.

I had no problems before they moved me to another department. I went from working for my job’s General Motors department to working for the BMW department. I thought, great, it’s a change from the same stuff I’ve been doing everyday for 2 months. Instead, it is the same in someways while also being totally different in other ways. It is unnecessarily complex. Why do I say that? Well, General Motors created a machine to make the task of coding other system’s machines to work with it. With BMW you need a separate computer to connect to the hardware, however the display is all on this other computer; which makes things ten times complex, it need not be this way. Plus, on top of learning how to run a new system, my bosses want me to type in Chinese words that I can’t even read. I can read some of it, but all I have is the English translation, but that isn’t good enough seeing as Google translate is just not accurate enough when it comes to translation. (It could be perfected, but I understand why it would be hard to translate 1,000’s of Chinese characters.

Whatever the case, I’ll be really starting in the BMW department tomorrow. I hope all goes well.

Need to find out if your site has been compromised?

Need to find out if your site has been compromised?

In this day and age security is a concern as there are assholes out there who will do anything to find exploits on your site, no matter how small of a site you are running.

I recently came across an awesome website that details any issues with your site that you may have not noticed. Whether that be a javascript line prompting a java applet/download onto those who visit your website etc.

The website is called:

Sucuri

It successfully located some malware, such as the described one above, on my website. I was finding difficulty tracking it, and then finally solved the issue. Although, I still need to look for any back doors, otherwise if I can’t find any or if this issue prompts up again, I’ll likely have to do a full re-install of WordPress.

I just had to give a shout out to that website as it proved incredibly useful.
