The weekend freedom!

The weekend freedom!

It appears I’ve now dedicated this blog to solely being about my job and my experiences working in an office environment.

I must say, when I finished work I became the happiest person in Taichung at the time.  I felt the freedom of not having work the next day, of not having to go to bed early, just so I wouldn’t be too tired to wake up at 6 or either at 7 in the morning.

The weekend days are likely the most joyous days I could have after working full-time in the weekdays. I just feel freedom, as I have no worries, however as always I still feel the sense of pressure considering I still have work on Monday, and really the weekends are not long enough. – It’s back to work soon enough and the process repeats itself every time.

I just want to relax today. I’ve had too much stress and pressure placed on me at work, to understand translations (Which aren’t too accurate) from Mandarin to English. Plus, I have to write out daily reports and then I have to attend a meeting saying what I’ve been doing in the week. However with this type of job it is really hard to explain what you’ve been doing, when you quite frankly can’t explain in your own head what you are doing. I can’t wait to quit. I just need to save enough money to see my sweetheart Julie, who’s in Seoul, South Korea. – Oh, do I miss her.

Military service awaits, or so I think…

Military service awaits, or so I think…

I’ve made the move out of Feng-Chia back to my parents place. I had to move quite a few things, however the room I was in looks much better than what it originally looked like before I had actually moved in. For one, it is clean and two, I fixed a few things here and there like the internet (The RJ45 wall-port). – So whoever moves in next, well, they won’t have trouble with their internet, unless they pull the actual wall-port; off the wall.

Aside from that useless crap, things have been boring as of recent, I haven’t really hanged out with my friends and my sister has gone back to London. So I’ve really spent time doing nothing. I’ve tried to focus on Mandarin however it is hard not having a dedicated person trying to explain things in an easy way to you.

As for my military service, I’m not even sure about that, if there is no conclusion to that and it is just an ongoing thing that drags on, perhaps I’ll find a job teaching English. I’d like to save up some money, perhaps start investing and see how that turns out.

Life is moderately boring at the moment, I hope I don’t waste what little of a life as living beings, we have on this dear old Earth. *Yawns*

Just to make this blog post, not totally boring, here’s a pic with my sister and friends:

Not a bad picture, right?

I’m going to miss my sister…

I haven’t posted in a while on this dear blog of mine, considering recently I have been chilling out with my sister and whatnot and I haven’t had much time to go on the internet. – Besides Facebook, where I’ve just uploaded pictures etc.

Whatever the case, this post is for my sister, I’m going to miss her so much.

When I left for Taiwan, my sister cried, although she had friends with her, which made it more comfortable to leave her without bursting out in tears, I felt a bad feeling inside me. I felt I was leaving someone behind who I’d never see again, it felt as if I was never going to see that person again; type of feeling.

I’ve come to the conclusion that in this world, it is money that keeps people apart, it isn’t distance nor is it time, it is purely money. If I had the money, I could fly back with her, stay in England for a while, jet off to South Korea to see my girlfriend and do so many wonderful things.

Leaving that aside, here are some pics with my sister:

I need to get more pics with her. 🙁

Checkpoint 1 (Fitness)

Checkpoint 1 (Fitness)

So I have come a long way since I first came to Taiwan. I’ve lost over 16KG and I was literally obese. Although some would still call me obese now *cough*, my girlfriend, I am not as fat as I used to be. Here is a pic of me sitting down:

Although it may seem I’m still fat, my body looked nothing like this … 4 months ago. I was overly fat and now I’m not so fat, so I’m kind of proud and the target I set and the way I am now.

However now it is time to build up muscle, I’m going to do 30 press-ups per day, every night and lift ups when I can. I’m also trying to eat more healthy food.

Hopefully I’ll be able to post a picture of a big change in comparison to the photo above; soon.

iPhone4S, the battery life sucks.

iPhone4S, the battery life sucks.

iPhone 4S

I now have an iPhone 4S as you can see in the pictures I have taken in this post! I’m quite happy, however there is one thing which wants me to change phone and I’ve decided that I’m changing to another phone. The reason:

The battery lasts 8 hours according to Apple, however that’s only if you use it for menial tasks, such as phone calling and sending texts. Although it is indeed a phone that I’m buying, it just isn’t a phone I’m buying, I bought the phone because it’s a smart-phone.

iphone4sIt has many functions such as being able to watch YouTube videos, listening to music, playing games, browsing the internet etc. Today, I used this phone for around 4-5 hours — I wasn’t constantly playing on it and then suddenly to my amazement, perhaps after around 4 hours, the battery ran out.

My girlfriend has a “Samsung <insert model name>” and there is one thing that she can do, that my iPhone cannot. She can replace the battery. i.e. She can charge 2 or as many batteries as she wants to buy and she literally has a phone which can last for the whole week or more if she buys more batteries. You cannot change the battery in an iPhone, as the battery is integrated, which sucks because when you use this thing to watch movies, you’ll soon find out, you are out of electric juice. Where with my girlfriends phone, she can simply replace her battery with another that she charged earlier on and she has no problem whatsoever or any issues with her phone running out, if she listens to music or plays a few games while on the bus, train or anywhere.

I guess that is one design fault which Apple needs to address. They either need to lengthen the battery usage amount or make the battery replaceable.

I have other qualms, however those ‘other’ issues can be solved by jail-breaking the phone, which voids warranty, it depends which way you want to go with your iPhone 4S to make it more usable by jail-breaking it.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lovely phone, the interface is nice & smooth and I’d really love the software in a Samsung or HTC phone, as it appears more versatile, considering you can add memory and change the battery; amongst other things.

However the one thing that, perhaps, most smart-phone makers need to address is the battery time. Although it seems it is improving, I think there is still more work to be done on improving the life of the batteries. We should really be at the age where batteries should last on general usage; 24 hours.

Oh and this is the first smart-phone I’ve owned. Apologies if there are any ignorant remarks.

Holy batman, Apple now worth $469 billion

From a company which went from being worth peanuts, to now one of the largest companies in the world. A legacy built upon advancements in technology which has involved design, touch screen functionality, innovative ideas, new smaller processing capabilities etc.

To put this into perspective, Microsoft is worth $255.01 billion, while Google is worth around $158 billion as of 2012’s latest figures. A combined total of $413 billion, while the worth of Apple Inc is valued at $469 billion, blowing its competitors out of the water.

I remember in 2009, Microsoft being a much larger company than Apple Inc, however I would have never have thought that Apple could have surpassed Microsoft, Google or any of the other big players. To me, it looked as if Apple Inc was the underdog, now it is the top dog in the technology industry.

If I had a time machine, damn would I have bought a crap load of stock in Apple when it was cheap. There are people who literally paid peanuts for Apple stock, to which are now worth $500 per share, the same price as a basic iPad.
