Moved in with my cousin…

Recently I made a move to live with my cousin, who gave me a room in her apartment. She lives with her boyfriend here and they had a spare room. Since they live nearby to Feng-Chia University, it is very convenient and they have given me the room for free. Their apartment is really nice and in fact they had a small room with gym equipment which I can use. (Including a running machine)

The only issue (I don’t really see it as an issue) is that they don’t know how to speak English. However thinking about it, it will help me excel in learning Chinese, since all I can use with them is Chinese. So I am forced to use Chinese, as opposed to my parents who know English well.

I am just glad I have such a big family in Taiwan of cousins, aunts and uncles. – I am also equally thankful that the place they have is literally 5 minutes via walking to where I go to study Chinese.

So I am quite pleased at the moment. I also recently bought a nice laptop. I don’t have the specifications of it on me right now, but it is quite a powerful laptop even though it only has a 14” screen. However I didn’t want to spend too much, so I went for the 14” as it was considerably cheaper than the 17” or above laptops.

So how is my Chinese studies going?

Let’s just say learning Chinese is not a walk in the park. You have to study hard to get it and understand it. I cannot focus sometimes and considering I have ADHD (Or what I believe to be ADHD) I find it hard to focus in class and I always keep moving since I seem to have so much energy in me. But I am getting much better at Chinese, though I am not learning as fast I would have liked. When I did my course at college in web development, I found it very easy, while others found it hard. I guess learning actual said languages are hard for me as opposed to programming/scripting languages. Although if the course was computer-based via the use of typing Chinese, I think I would learn Chinese very easily. Things are going OK, at least or so I think, I am not the worst student in the class. I also had a test today which was fairly easy. Though I don’t want to jinx myself, but I believe I got nearly every answer correct. There is just one character I didn’t know how to write. So I was quite disappointed in not knowing that character.

Switched host…

I have moved this blog to a new host. The previous host had overloaded servers and I was fed up with having my websites on their servers. Everything was so slow, but now things are great with this new server I moved my sites over to.

According to this host we are on a 8 core, 16 GB of RAM server. Which seems to be working great. I can feel the speed has gone up by x 10 times faster than the previous host.

Now I just have to go over and review my previous host on web hosting talk, so people don’t make the same mistake I did.

Bowling with my cousins

Bowling with my cousins

I went bowling today which was pretty fun. I beat my cousin, although he seemed quite depressed at life. I sure don’t blame him on that, but I still try and get on. Either way I tried to have fun and enjoyed meeting my cousins again.

That’s me on the very right.

I bought just for the girls some perfume which I purchased duty-free on my flight back from Hong Kong. They appreciated it very much. In my opinion it was very costly (The perfume) however I don’t often get people nice things. As you can see the perfume collection… below:The following picture is a picture that was taken when I went on a trip with most of my Taiwanese relatives. They are likely the best thing that has happened to me in Taiwan. I don’t know why, but meeting them has made me feel I am not alone in this country anymore. Now if I could speak there language…

My friends from university/school

These are my good friends. Likely these people are my only friends which I can really talk to about things personal to me. Especially the Korean guy sitting next to me. We talk about life and how crappy things can be sometimes and discuss that life doesn’t always have to suck. He helps me out with life just by talking. It seems to be a cool remedy for the bullshit that I go through sometimes. I am really glad I have these friends.

If you are reading, what do you think of my sexy new glasses. I kind of like them, even if they make me look like more of an idiot! 🙂

Where will I be in 10 years time…

(Short answer: I don’t know) In 10 years time I will be 30 years old. That kind of scares me, as 10 years sure is a long time, but I want to know what I will amount to by that time. It kind of scares me that I will be in the same situation as I am now and that I haven’t progressed forward. If possible I would like to be married before at least 30 years old.

I would love to have kids however would only have kids if I was in the right position to have kids. For example I had a decent and secure job and had my own place that I was living in. Of course there are other factors as to whether or not I would have the time, in my opinion that would be required to take care of a child.

I would bring my child up in the best possible way, learning from my mistakes and ensuring he/she doesn’t make any big mistakes. (Such as studying hard for a bright future) I think that if I could successfully raise a child (So that my child would understand common decency) I would be satisfied with my life. But the first step is getting into that position.

Made a new friend

Made a new friend

I am taking a deep dive into the friendship ring today by going out with a girl who saw my ad on a website called Tealit to do some language exchange and to hopefully make friends with her.

I have talked extensively over Facebook with her and I asked her if she would like to go grab a coffee. But I kind of made her choose the place and since she has a car she is picking me up. (I am very romantic :P)  As you can tell.

I will bring my camera with me just to see where she takes me and hopefully it will be somewhere nice. The main purpose is for her to teach me a little Chinese and to test me for a test I have coming up on Monday. (I also have another language exchange person teaching me on Monday too) So hopefully I can learn this Chinese stuff fast. I already know bopomofo quite well. It was just the pronouncing of words and the 4 tones that I suffer with. So hopefully she can help me with that.

I am kind of scared or apprehensive as I have never done anything like this before, so I don’t know how it will go! I hope she likes my humour and I hope she can actually understand me. Hahaa! I talked to her on the phone and she kind of couldn’t understand me too well, but I think her level of English is quite good. My Chinese is poor — so it is good she can speak somewhat decent English and she types quite well too! 🙂

Just a random picture I took, when I went to this famous place called "Sun Moon Lake" in Taiwan!

Pumped about my exercising

Pumped about my exercising

I have been very committed to my exercising and not only am I purely just running around tracks and parks, I am also going to the gym lifting 80 lb weights on my legs and for my arms too. Granted I didn't do much weight lifting today, mostly I did a lot of running and cardio exercise. Some on the running machine and a lot of exercise on the bicycle machine. (I around 13 miles on the bicycle machine)

Then I proceeded to do some exercise with the weight lifting contraption. 80 lb was kind of heavy, but I need to train more at that type of weight to hopefully be able to lift that easy soon enough.

I will be focusing tomorrow mostly on my arms and I might do some proper weight lifting with dung-bells and bar-bells for about as long as I can stand it. But hopefully I will be able to build up some muscle as well as lose weight. I am also thinking of taking up swimming, but I need to bring my body up to standard, plus my body is not tanned while my arms and face are well-tanned lol, so it looks a bit funny when I take my shirt off. I guess I need to run with my shirt off or something. 😛
