Transferring to different servers headache

Transferring to different servers headache

Usually transferrals of my websites are easy and don’t involve many problems. However my main website is currently down and I’ve asked my host for assistants in fixing the issue as I’ve got a headache over it all. I’m still with the same host, I just wanted to be transferred to a faster server and now we are rocking on an 8 core server which I have seen notably faster response times on the website and in cPanel/WHM. The problem is that my main site is down (Webmasterspace) and I believe it is to do with DNS configuration. Though I’ve noticed that WHM is using some random IP address that I wasn’t assigned by my host or at least I wasn’t informed about. Thus when I changed my registered IP address for my nameservers, my websites DNS is not recognizing the change in WHM. – This is my theory, so whether I’m correct or not, I don’t know.

Welcome

Welcome

Welcome to my blog.

I’m not new to blogging and I’ve been blogging since 2006 under various domains. This is my latest domain name that I’ve been using for well over 2 years now, maybe even 3 years.

Jargoned. Apparently, this word is the past-participle of jargon; just kidding of course, considering Jargon is a noun and I don’t think you could use “jargoned” in any sensible vocabulary. Either way, it’s my little domain that has actually been registered for over 10 years. This site is mainly built on the “jargon” part of the word, as, I guess, well, I like talking/typing a load of jargon! – Or what a lot of people would perceive to be as jargon. Here are a few synonyms that represent what I mean:

babble, gabble, twaddle.

However, it won’t all be babble! I’ll be writing down some interesting articles which others may be interested in… maybe. In other words I consider this my personal blog! Enjoy!

Obama & McCain edits

Obama & McCain edits

I’ve been tinkering around with photoshop and I’ve edited a picture which I found on Google Images of Barack Obama, a US candidate for the United Sates of America. (Whom I’m a huge fan of) The results in UK time will be announced today, at 11pm on Sky News and of course around the world. Moving on, here is the image I edited:

I edited the second image, with the more ‘bright’ background.

That’s the image I found on Google Images and I must say, it was a nice image to edit, for the 5 minutes I had. Here are the results:

Please click both images, to see the change! 🙂

As you can see, there are small changes, I made to the American flag and Barack Obama himself. I’m only doing this, as my sister is in University and she sometimes asks me to ‘re-do’ some of her images that she creates in her media class; to make it look better in terms of quality e.g. Get rid of that ‘shine’ mark, or that red eyed effect.

I also done a John McCain ‘photoshoped’ picture. I can’t say I’m the best, but I think, I done a pretty neat job as the original image looked boring and ‘samey’. I changed the back ground, like with the Obama image with the ‘Filter tool’, but layering John McCain onto a separate layer via the ‘Quick Selection Tool’, just as I did with Obama’s picture edit.

I edited the second image, with the squared background!

I’m hoping for Barack Obama to win. I like his foreign policy and that he wants to give every American a ‘free’ health care. I mean lets face it, America, one of the worlds richest countries and that has ‘some’ if not a lot of influence on the world, has people dying because they are not ‘able’ (In financial terms) to get medical care. – Obama will change that, and that’s what I like; humans being humanitarian. As for foreign policy, Obama is quite diplomatic, and that’s what the world needs under the worlds most powerful and budgeted army!

While I was in Romford, I took a couple pictures of our buses that we have here in the UK, and seeing as I had them on my computer, I thought I’d edit them and this is the result:

This is just a simple “Filter” and ‘Cut out’ effect, and cropping to make the image smaller and more centralised on the bus. I actually like the effect that it gives off and it’s one of those things which you actually see inside the buses with the posters on the ceilings and sidewalls. To see the full visual effect, just click on the images, it’s at the very lowest quality, so it should be easy to load however visual quality, seemed to have stayed the same. 🙂

Rest in peace, Madelyn Dunham – She died at the age of 86 of cancer.

I added the ’round’ shade affect to the image. 🙂

It’s such a shame, she didn’t get to see Obama become president (I’m guessing he will be, as the results haven’t been released yet), however it’s just sad.

Ten days ago, Mr Obama broke away from the campaign trail to pay one last visit to Ms Dunham, whom he had mentioned at several key moments during his run for the White House.

BBC News – Barack Obama’s grandmother dies

That makes me smile, that he at least visited on the last days that she was alive.

Network Attached Storage backups

I’ve been looking at backup storage methods which I could use for my sites and specifically accounts which can be added to store backups via NAS to store full cPanel Backups and to be at the ready if files I’ve deleted or if someone has done something horrific to their free hosted account on Vlexo.com. At current I’ve been doing things like this via Rsync, which works well however NAS is something which my service provider offers which I would rather have and turns out it might be slightly cheaper; only slightly to what I’m currently paying.

However I’ve found a much cheaper solution, this solution is only by adding a secondary hard drive to the initial server and select any cPanel account to which end I’d want to backup accounts to. This is much cheaper, as I can purchase a 250GB hard drive disk for $20 per month and store all selected cPanel accounts to which end will be worth it. At current I’m paying for remote storage at a price of just $14 per month for 50 gigabytes of space and unmetered traffic. However this is simply not worth it as a secondry drive is as as reliable and is much cheaper as I can store 250GB of storage for just $20 per month, which is worth every cent.

With the free hosting I provide, I will be using this service as an addon which people can purchase, so for example, people will be able to pay a subscription per month to add their cPanel account to the list of accounts which get backed up. This is a unique service to which end not many if any provide such service of backing up accounts. These backups can of course be restored and they will be made on a nightly basis and perhaps a weekly one to save any ‘older’ backups. Costs would only go so far as $0.50 to $1 depending on how many gigabytes you would be using up and if anything WiredTree offers a variety of other larger diskpace drives:

Not to bad and a little revenue could be made if this is a success. I’ll aslo be saying that everyone who uses this service gets premium support, such as private support via our forums and ticketing support which will come along in the future – which will be a gateway to admins such as myself, Eli and the rest of the team.

New Blog

Welcome to my new WordPress blog, back when I started going on the Internet, I never really thought anything of it – it was just a way of meeting people, going on chatrooms, using online services, forums, web applications and finding jobs and hobbies. However looking at things in today’s age and the late 21st century, the Internet has expanded to what we could call amazing and heavy. I currently dig the Internet, it literally has everything, from websites which help you with coding to websites which help you to the extent you can make money.

Furthermore, I hope to write in this blog perhaps my life, online life and personally just express my matters on different subjects, if I may so! I love the Internet, thus far to the extent you can express your own opinions without being slandered (Unless you are on YouTube) However I just love the mass-various subjects that are on the Internet, I can literally say that you’ll thing anything and everything online.

Welcome to my blog!

Good sites I've come across

I’ve just come over some pretty good free script sites. These are actually decent scripts, these are scripts that are made in the functionality that they’re going to be free. It’s as if, the developer of these scripts have actually made decent scripts, which are worth paying for; as the functionality of these scripts are just great as well as the user/admin interface.

The sites I’m promoting on here are these:

Boonex

CeleronDude

These are decent script sites, which offer decent scripts that do not need mass editing, unless you want to change the appearance of these scripts. But I just came accross these, and I fought what nice people to offer these wonderfully coded scripts for absolutely no price. – It really inspires me to start training at php/mysql coding, seeing as you can make all these wonderful things in your free time; for free. 😉 I’ll be using one of these scripts for my website: keeperscafe.com, and what you see on keeperscafe now is nothing, it’s just a CMS script I was testing out, but I’ll be uploading something nice on keeperscafe.com. 🙂

The scripts are as follows: (celerondude.com)

  • Uploader v6

This script allows you to run a “file hosting” service on your web server. For a demonstration of the script and of the latest version, visit CDUpload.com.

  • Shoutbox

This is just another simple shoutbox. I needed one for my site so I wrote one. It’s meant to run inside your layout but can also be run by itself. A demo of the script in action is right here on my site. For screenshots of the admin section, scroll down.

  • Simple Gallery

A simple gallery script. Drop images into the albums directory and you’re done. Create albums is as easy as creating a new directory, literally. I’ve put up a demo gallery here.
